Tom installed new Creepy parts yesterday.  He had to go to a different store after he couldn't find the one we've been going to for decades (which, despite his certainty, has NOT moved, and is still in the same location right there at 35th & Greenway.)  That SHOULD have made Creepy a whole lot happier...

but once it got light this morning (it was still dark when I got up, before 4:00) he was at a standstill and clearly clogged.  I got into the pool and addressed that - but he clogged up just a few minutes later.  And then again shortly after I dislodged those leaves.

Yesterday I cut some yardage to make a backing for the charity quilt (which, a la Murphy's Law, is about two inches wider than the fabric.)

I set everything aside, planning to add to the backing 'sometime' today - but this morning I'm thinking (seriously) about just cutting down the border to make things easier!

Early PT this morning, and then I'm considering 'running' down to the Runners Den for some new tennis shoes; my toe is threatening to peek out of a worn spot on the top of one, like in this photo.

How does that happen?

These are the most common holes you see in running shoes.  We would estimate that roughly 1 in every 5 runners will get this type of hole in their running shoes regularly. The reason for it occurring is due to the big toe rubbing away at the mesh from underneath.  If your hallux joint (big toe) doesn’t move freely through its entire range of motion when it is loaded (when you toe off), then the distal phalanx will overextend to compensate this. “Lifting” of the distal phalanx occurs at a time when the mesh is close to your toes (a fraction of a second after it should). This slight difference in timing and the angle of the extension of the end of the toe (which contains the tip of the nail) rather than the whole toe is enough, when repeated thousands of times per run, to wear away the mesh pretty quickly.

Wanda called yesterday, and we've scheduled a Thursday morning shopping spree over to TOQS (grabbing lunch afterward, of course) so she can use her birthday GC.  It's also "possible" I might purchase some fabric while we're there...

She's hoping to get all set for some August fun at the annual Night Owls retreat; I had NO idea the venue would accommodate so many quilters! Unfortunately her attendance is no longer a sure thing due to the latest 'wrinkle' in the pandemic.  The Delta variant is concerning (to all of us) "because health officials are finding it is more easily transmissible and there is a higher risk of hospitalizations when compared to other variants."    And since not everyone is vaccinated, people with health issues are at greater risk.

Of course some people do have valid medical reasons for not being able to get the shot, but the vast majority of unvaccinated people are simply reacting to MISinformation.
