Driving to the AQG Fall Meeting this morning, a van in the right lane of the 101 didn't check its blind spot and started to move into our lane.  Sure was glad I had a horn to use to disabuse the driver of that bad idea!  (Note to Mike: working horns are necessary... just ask your wife!) And despite a "slight" detour (don't ask!) we arrived at the Elks Lodge with time to spare.

The speaker, author Marie Bostwick, was quite entertaining.  We thoroughly enjoyed her presentation despite the fact that there was no trunk show. She read us an alternative "bio" for her books that publishers declined to use (it was a hoot!)  Here's the official one:

Marie Bostwick is a USA Today and New York Times bestselling author of uplifting historical and women’s fiction, including the popular Cobbled Court Quilt and Too Much, Texas series of books. An unabashed advocate of happy endings, Marie crafts strong female characters who feel like friends, bringing messages of hope and encouragement to reader’s lives.
When not traveling the country to speak at quilt shows, libraries, and conferences, Marie and her husband live in Oregon. They have three grown sons, two daughters-in-love, and four adorable and extremely advanced grandchildren.

Other parts of the day were also (unintentionally) entertaining.  Certainly our table found the woman running the show somewhat clueless.  But as Carol pointed out, NO ONE ELSE was willing to take on the job of AQG president.  And in fact there is no president-elect this year, waiting to take over when the new year starts July 1.

I didn't win any of the raffle baskets, though I did get to take home the red/white/blue table decoration.  The lunch was good, though the set-up was pretty much a disaster; after the hour allotted for lunch, many of the attendees had yet to be served!

My back was not happy with the chairs. If I sat on my thermorest I had to sit up straight, which made my back ache, but when I used the thermorest for a lumbar support the hard seat was uncomfortable. The first thing I did when I got home was lie down on the heating pad and finish my current book.  Sweet story!

“I dare you to read this novel and not fall in love with Arthur Truluv. His story will make you laugh and cry, and will show you a love that never ends, and what it means to be truly human.”—Fannie Flagg

Recently finished reading The President is Missing (by James Patterson & Bill Clinton) which turned out to be an excellent example of the "pulse-pounding thriller" genre.  It was definitely a page-turner!
