With a long, hot summer ahead (summer may only just be officially starting, but of course we've been 'doing' it for a while already.  Hard to believe that the days will now start getting shorter...it won't feel that way for a LONG time!)

Phoenicians will be spending as much time in the water as possible,
many falling victim to the Prune Syndrome.

The Prune Song has a catchy tune, which you'd probably recognize because I'm pretty sure it belongs to a 'real' song.  I've sung it many times over the years at the hot springs, to a very appreciative kid audience.
No matter how young a prune may be, he's always getting wrinkled.
A baby prune is like his dad, but he's not wrinkled half so bad.
We have wrinkles on our face;
A prune has wrinkles every place!
No matter how young a prune may be,
He's always getting stewed!

And in Other News:
I am certainly NOT a fan of Gov. Jan Brewer, but every now and then (sadly, much too rarely!) she does something laudable.  Like this:

Gov. Jan Brewer signed legislation Thursday allowing Arizona’s foster children to qualify for free tuition at the state’s three universities.... Nationally, less than 3 percent of youths who age out of state foster care get a four-year college degree, compared with about 30 percent of Americans who were never in foster care. The bill would waive tuition for foster children or former foster children, 16 to 23 years old, covering what’s left after federal grants and other scholarships are applied. The program is intended to more than double the number of Arizona foster youths who attend and graduate from college each year.
And in other good news, great story in this morning's paper about Wes DeBusk.  Never heard of him?  Me, neither.  But I love how he did his part to pass out Smiles!  Over the years many folks have done things for me; some may have been seemingly insignificant to them but meant a lot to me, and I still remember and appreciate them to this day.  Now I try to do what I can to pass that good feeling along.
