Marilyn had the Beatles station playing last evening, and when Twist and Shout came on it reminded me of a billboard we passed somewhere along our three-day trek. Sponsored by an orthopedic clinic, it asked Did You Twist And Then Shout? Come See Us !

Last night before bed I decided to research one of the small tins (with a peaked top) that I scored at Riderwood's Treasure Chest for a quarter; I'm pretty sure it's the perfect size for a stash of my 2.5" x 4.5" scraps. I figured it was an art gallery 'somewhere' because of the names (Phidias, Giotto, Durer, Michaelangelo, Raphael, Velasquez, Rubens, Reynolds, Allston, and Ingres) across the top. Turns out it's the Corcoran, in Washington, DC. Who knew?

Frannie helped me wake up this morning.  Wasn't that considerate of her?  She gave me lots of kisses, and even jumped up on that high bed.  It was extremely foggy out, and wet.  And according to the forecast for the coming week, today (with only a 30% chance of 'scattered thunderstorms') is going to be the best weather all week.  At least it's good weed-pulling weather.

Don whipped up blueberry waffles for breakfast. It was a little early for me, so soon after coffee, but "somehow" they were extremely easy to eat! Then it was time for Frannie's morning walk down to the creek, when it was misting just enough for me to wish my glasses had some sort of windshield wiper on them.  At the top of one hill Frannie stopped and stared intently at the field below before she suddenly took off, flushing out more than a dozen deer (mostly white-tail, but at least one sika.) It was quite a sight, but even though I had my camera with me (to take pix of the Texas poppies down by the creek) I was unprepared for the event and only 'recorded' it with my eyes.  On a later walk this afternoon we spotted a couple of deer (who also spotted us), but they were downwind of us and Frannie never even realized they were around.

Marilyn has been busy unpacking and doing laundry and otherwise trying to play catch up after being away so long, but did make time to help me find some things on the computer (folks from the old days, shoes) and make up a delicious stir fry dinner.

Spoke with Alex today.  I'd texted him, wondering what city he was in; when I'd checked the band's schedule on-line it had them in California today.  I knew that couldn't be right.  Except that it was.  While the bus (and Alex) are still in Chicago, the band had flown to California for a one night gig after a scheduled concert elsewhere was cancelled.
