We did not get rain last evening; the storm, which seemed all around us,
somehow <sigh> managed to miss us.

Back home, Tom reported a dust storm, and I did see some pix from various people around The Valley on FB this morning.

The first major dust storm of the 2018 monsoon season rolled into the Valley late Thursday afternoon, briefly closing Interstate 10 south of Casa Grande in both directions.
The storm rolled into the Phoenix area a short time after the city reached an official high temperature of 115 degrees, making it the hottest day so far this year.

Speaking of water we didn't get (paragraph 1) and the situation back home (paragraph 2) I got an e-mail yesterday from the irrigation folks that as of 3:00 the irrigation pump was down, and the current cycle was canceled.

So I got a message to Joy & Dick (who were scheduled for water at 9:30 last night) and Tom (who is scheduled for 2:20 this afternoon.)  However only two hours later I got another e-mail from WMID that the pump had been fixed (YAY!) and irrigation would resume.

Too bad for the property that missed out on water, since Tom had reported with temps of 115 at our place it was "too hot to go outside and swim!"

Because it's so dry here, and there are virtually no flowers (I especially miss the usual sunflowers) the hummers are more dependent than usual on the feeders here.  Last evening, there were easily 8 on the feeders at all times, with a couple of dozen others buzzing around, working at chasing the lucky ones off to get their own spot at the trough. (I hope that's just a red plastic bottom and not red-dye sugar water, as it appears in this picture!)

Maybe tonight I should take a video from here to post...

And here's another thought....
