After trying on numerous shoes (again) the best fit turned out to be the same pair I'd originally bought, just in a wider version. 

On the way home I collected the two books waiting for me at the library, picked up my Rx, and filled up the gas tank.  Since I had an hour before I needed to leave for the chiropractor I was also able to finish reading The Wild Girl.  I found it interesting that the author, Kate Forsyth, "holds a doctorate in fairy-tale retelling."
