With summer upon us here, it's no surprise about all the heat-related articles in the newspaper.  I did, however, notice something interesting today.

This first article is headlined Heat warning as today's record might fall and <sigh> is sadly no surprise these days.  FYI the record temperature here for June 2 (110 degrees) was set in 1977 and matched in 2006.

This next one, however, raised my eyebrows a bit.
Selling summer here isn't easy; Tourism office rolls out $520,000 campaign to entice local, LA residents.
The deputy director of the tourism agency "acknowledged the summer heat poses a challenge"; I'd say that's quite an understatement!

I did find this article quite interesting.
Overheated police dog? There's an app for that
Virtual Armour has created a device with a sensor to monitor body temperature that is implanted in the dog's neck.  Since in the past 5 years "as many police dogs have died in heat related incidents as have been shot in the line of duty" this should help avoid potentially fatal scenarios.  It is being tested in Phoenix, where it's "certainly going to get practical experience this summer."  Ya think?

At least EVERY place is air conditioned, in fact sometimes too-much so - which is why I need to take sweaters into restaurants and movie theaters!  So I'm not complaining about the heat (at least not yet? LOL); I'm  just taking note of it.  Because that's what we do here in the summer!
