Butch and I had a great time yesterday at the quilt show. Lots of beautiful quilts (don't worry, I'm going to share some!) displayed very nicely. Each row went in/out (I'm sure there's a name for the arrangement) creating multiple alcoves which gave the show a cozier feel. Didn't see any other Busy Bees or Foothills members there, but did run into Wanda with her group.
The vendors were fun, and while I did make a couple of purchases, I didn't spend that much. What I did find, Marilyn, was some fabric PERFECT to make another set of 4 placemats for your kitchen to (maybe!) help you get over your placemat mysophobia.
Butch had brought along the '30s butterfly quilt (that she found at a yard sale for practically nothing) for the appraiser to check out. The woman seemed quite impressed with the quilt, so I'll be curious to see how the appraisal turns out when Butch gets mailed the official findings.
And now to the quilts!
The show was sponsored by Mountain Top Quilters. On display was the President's quilt made to celebrate Susan Perry's term. Not sure if you can see, but each block is signed by the woman who made it.
Here's a close-up of one of the blocks.
I'm always in awe of those quilts that show great determination and fortitude by using tiny pieces.
BANA: this woman converted a cross-stitch pattern to make the following quilt.
1/4" pieces ?!?!?!?
OF COURSE the results are stunning. But how is this woman still sane?
Here's another mind-blower. Note that the 2000 different fabrics were hand-pieced and then hand-quilted.; no wonder it took her 12 years!
Let's turn to the lighter side.
Be sure to notice her tan marks! LOL
Quilts for kids are so much fun to make.
The quiltmaker had fun with her embellishments. Be sure to notice the shoes!
Mom - this close-up is for you.
And so is this soft Minky one:
Flowers are always a great subject for colorful quilts.
And just testing here. Did you notice this about the quilt above?
There were also a number of winter-themed quilts (it actually does get cold in Prescott...) This block was part of one of those.
It's 'hard to go wrong' with birds
or our furry friends.
And speaking of dogs... enjoy this close-up
of a group project.
Did you spot this friend of Pokey's in one of the panels?
This is from that same project
and here's another close-up for you, Mom.
The giraffe's markings were created using sequins. Maybe you've never seen a pink elephant, but now you've seen a pink giraffe!
From the center aisle this 'just' looked like a pretty quilt using large blocks.
However...NOT SO!
I took 'a few' more pix <g>, which I'll post later. Now I've gotta get a move on and run some errands.
Most importantly,I need to find the correct Heat & Bond Light (the iron on adhesive, not the interfacing!) so I can get back to work on MY challenge quilt! And as long as I'm near Barnes & Noble, I can pop in and pick up a book with my Mother's Day gift card from Alex.
