I'm watching the Weather Channel's coverage of Hurricane Matthew while I work on Annalise's quilt. Just saw an interview with an idiotic couple from Wisconsin who are ignoring evacuation. They are "excited" to stay, and (incredibly!) wishing their windows faced east instead of west "for a better view", all because they have "survived blizzards back home". At least their interview was immediately followed by a meteorologist who bluntly pointed out that a hurricane can NOT be compared to a blizzard.
I've checked in with Glo in Florida this morning, and (so far at least) they are safe. But no doubt they are remembering an earlier hurricane (Andrew?) when things didn't go so well...
Hurricane Andrew was, at the time of its occurrence in August 1992,
the most destructive hurricane in United States history.
