We're on our way to San Francisco! Although we're not playing the license plate game this trip, 45 minutes from home Tom spotted a car sporting Rhode Island tags.  That was one (of only seven states) we never managed to capture during our five weeks in Colorado.

The desert along I-10 was incredibly green (thanks to all the recent rainfall) despite it being the end of summer.  Not much else to see, so I got  a lot of handwork done.  (Maybe one wedding gift will be on time, Mom.)

We stopped at Hadley's for fruit and other snacks.  Haven't been there in years, but it's still the same... except the prices are higher now.  As for the traffic - it was heavy, typical for Southern California.  And we certainly saw our share of idiot drivers today, "accidents just looking for a place to happen."

In the late afternoon we went on a wild goose chase looking for the Maricopa Quilt Company, but on the plus side saw an UNBELIEVABLE number of oil pumps in one area.  Stopped for the night in Santa Maria, and had dinner at a Mexican seafood place (which was an experience in itself.)

My back started complaining after sitting all day today, so it feels really wonderful to stretch out in bed.  Tomorrow we'll wander up the coast and do some sight-seeing.
