Happy 4th of July

Today is also Tom's birthday.  (He jokes that he was 10 before he realized the fireworks every year were not in his honor.)

Here's a Wonky 9-Patch I made for his birthday several years ago

“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.” ~Erma Bombeck

We got wind - and rain! - last evening. The pool was nice and pristine for today's party, but it looks like we'll be cleaning it all over again this morning - although happily it was nothing like the microburst a few miles east of here the night before, that 'splintered and downed 17 poles, leaving 400,000 without power on that record-breaking 118 degree day.'
We did have our own 'little' microburst a few years back that hit part of our hedge in the Back 40, leaving a truck-sized hole in it. Like pretty much everywhere, it seems that our weather is getting more intense each year. In fact they're predicting rain for today - hope it holds off long enough for us to swim and grill hot dogs.
