Marilyn and Frannie made it all the way home last "night". When I heard from her in the early evening that they had made it to Fort Stockton (at which point they were "only" 250 miles from home) I figured they might try to push on through. Frannie has another show this weekend in San Antonio, so now she has an extra day to relax at home after the long trip back to Texas before she has to return to the ring.
Alex stopped by last night after he got home from Flagstaff. The visibility was so bad yesterday ("almost zero") that they could barely see up on the mountain; that meant they had to board pretty slowly which "wasn't that much fun." He said in some places the powder was more than waist deep, and when he went through he had to crawl to a tree to heave himself up!
I had wondered about the folks who were on the lifts Sunday when the power went out, and it turns out Alex was one of them. As expected Snowbowl does have a backup generator just for such a scenario, with enough power to at least get all those trapped folks to the top for their run down.
Since Ahmed's car couldn't negotiate the road to the top this trip, the guys had to snag a ride both days in the back of someone's pickup. Not so bad riding up, but coming back down (once they were wet) was pretty miserable. Somehow they survived...
Tom left this morning for Quartzsite to have one of his big saws fixed. (Before Alex left for Flagstaff he and Tom loaded the rather large machine onto the trailer.) Hopefully there will NOT be any snafus, and the guy he's meeting will have all the necessary parts/equipment to fix it.
My plans for today include cleaning/mucking, though it's entirely possible <g> that I could get side-tracked by something a little more fun.
