Yesterday afternoon it rained again, which made it a good time for a nap.  Since I hadn't slept well Sunday night (neither had Terry, as it turned out) and I wanted to be able to stay awake at Bookclub, a nap seemed like a good plan.  Luckily I had no trouble falling asleep, and even woke up on my own in time to shower and get ready. Tom and Terry used their time yesterday afternoon more productively, making substantial progress on the jigsaw puzzle.

We car-pooled to bookclub; Lisa (the prof from IU) picked us up in her "new" jeep, we stopped at the Everson Ranch (where I got to see the pigs in the pasture, some from Pixie's litter, others older teenagers prom previous litters, and of course the big mamas) to pick up Cynthia (Terry's yoga instructor) then continued down the road to pick up Elinor.  It had been iffy if she was going to join us since her cat hasn't been doing well since the weekend.  Yesterday Elinor sent us pix yesterday of the acupuncture treatment, but it sounds like it was the laser treatment that gave Motown the most relief.

With five of us in the car we were going to need the middle seatbelt in the back, but it was MIA, probably down under the seat.  When we tipped the seat forward to look for it, there was a nice fluffy mouse nest.  Of course mama mouse was less than thrilled about being exposed; she darted out and ran under the front seat.  While 'my' seatbelt had been slightly nibbled around the edges, luckily the integrity had not been compromised; most of the damage was probably to the stuffing under the seats.  Lisa's main concern was that the mouse was still in the car and might run across her feet while we were driving down the highway, but I'm happy to report that didn't happen.

Big crowd at bookclub, about twenty women, a few of whom looked vaguely familiar from my attendance last year.  After the potluck dinner (everything was delicious) we had a good discussion of Good King,  Bad King. Most, like me, enjoyed the book (though most of the women, like me, hadn't expected it to be so good.) The general concensus was that the author did an excellent job with the subject.

Driving home we had 3 antelope dart in front of the car near Elinor's, and then deer appeared 'out of nowhere' twice between the cattle guard and Terry's house.   It was all the more disconcerting because we found out on the way home that Lisa's night vision "isn't that good"!

The guys had a good evening, and when we got home around 9:30 they were watching the Netflix documentary about the conquest of Mt. Everest.

I woke up early this morning, around 5:00, so in a little bit will wander up and swim.  The only other thing on my 'agenda' today is to watch Neil while Terry goes to yoga tonight - except that she turned her ankle yesterday taking scraps down to the chickens in the barn, and by last night it was really bothering her. She also said that Neil might not do well with her being gone two evenings in a row.  So that is up in the air.

We plan to start for home tomorrow afternoon, so today will be our last full day here.  It's been three weeks!
