This afternoon I popped over to take some necessities to Carol, who is very happy to be back in her Assisted Living apartment after a month away (first in the hospital, then in rehab.)  Her legs look MUCH better than they did before, and she's in a much better frame of mind.

Then I went to visit Betty. I did not expect her to actually recognize me, but it was truly depressing to see how out of it she is now.  Despite her hands being very cold (I held them and tried to warm her up) she kept pulling off her covers and trying to get out of bed.  I'm almost sorry I went to visit, because I would much rather remember Betty the way she was, with a positive attitude and a smile on her face for everyone, than the way she is now.
