Sure didn't have much oomph yesterday. In fact if I hadn't been one of the hostesses I might actually have skipped going to Busy Bees. As it was I was dragging so much that several ladies asked if I was feeling okay. In truth, all I wanted to do was lie down. Wondering if Tuesday's flu shot had anything to do with that? I did get the Senior "extra duty" dose.
Fluzone High-Dose is an injected flu vaccine formulated for people age 65 years and older. Like other flu vaccines, Fluzone High-Dose is made up of the three flu strains most likely to cause the flu during the upcoming season. The high-dose vaccine, however, contains four times as much flu virus antigen — the part of the vaccine that stimulates the immune system — as regular Fluzone and other standard flu vaccines. In response to a regular flu shot, older people produce 50 to 75 percent fewer antibodies, which protect against the vaccine antigens, than do younger adults.
Diane called last night to see about some subbing dates - which I turned down. I haven't been enjoying it for a while, and my last several experiences left me thinking I'm pretty much done for (although have already agreed on a November date for her.) We then chatted about numerous other things (the sad state of affairs with regard to AZ schools, and politics, etc.) When we got to the topic of her mother's declining health, it made me glad to hear how Diane considers helping take care of her a real gift. So different than what Carol is dealing with!
So far this morning I have swept the pool and porch, set the irrigation gates for tomorrow, watered all the plants out front, dealt with the hummingbird feeders (poor hummers have been very neglected lately) and done other miscellaneous housekeeping tasks. Next week I have an appointment with my doctor to discuss some things, and my lack of energy is definitely on my list of topics!
