Just listened to an interesting segment on CNN this morning (while making great progress sewing) regarding whether to require police to wear body cams.

Of course like so many issues, it isn't as black and white (no pun intended!)
as it would first appear.

I had (naively?) assumed that body cams for police would solve most of the issues surrounding accusations of police brutality and unnecessary force.  But given the recent events with regard to the Eric Garner case (did the Grand Jury even watch the same footage the rest of us did?!?!), many cities, already strapped for money, may find it hard to give approval for the huge outlay of funds.

In an interview with Baltimore's police commissioner, some issues I hadn't even considered were pointed out: not only is there the initial (and substantial!) cost of the hardware (and training in how to use it), but server capacity would need to be greatly increased since all footage would need to be loaded after each shift,  plus there's the question of how long footage would need to be stored, etc.
