As promised, a photo now that my mitered borders are on.  The first 3 of them came together smoothly, but the 4th blue intersection needed to be ripped/sewn 3 times before I was satisfied with it.

I'm planning to scallop the borders; I bought the ruler years ago yet have never been brave enough to try it.  But charity quilts are perfect for trying out new methods!

Now am off to a Medicare luncheon sponsored by my tax preparer.  I'm hoping to hear understandable options so I can have all my ducks in a row before my next birthday, when I'll be eligible. 

Sure won't miss paying hefty heath insurance premiums every month!
