Today we tubed the Salt River over in Mesa, a first for Lisa. Although we set heat records today, it really was surprisingly pleasant on the water, which was the perfect temperature to keep us cool. I was a little concerned since the news had said that today was our 'best' chance for thunderstorms - but since they usually wait until late afternoon I figured we'd be OK. Although we did see puffy (so pretty!) clouds there was nothing threatening during our float, unless you count the 'monster' we saw in one of them. We had no camera with us, so this picture will have to suffice.
Because school/college has started for so many there was (as expected) only light traffic on the river, making it nice and quiet. We saw lots of fish, a couple of herons, and some turkey vultures, but (surprisingly) hardly any ducks. Now that we're back home, I see that some serious weather has moved into that part of the Valley. Glad it waited - the dust storm on the news looks pretty serious! Lots of folks are said to be without power, and there's also report of a power line down on a school bus!
