Terry arrived home from her 2-night mini-vacation to Marble around dinnertime last night. Her photos "prove" what a beautiful area it is.
"Probably
most photographed old structure in the mountain West"
Now I'm "working" on convincing her to take another trip in mid-September, and join me for the music festival in Flagstaff!
Last evening we watched some bizarre behavior from one of the hummingbirds. While the swarms buzzed at the feeder, landing and feeding briefly before being chased off by the waiting hordes, one guy just sat there and didn't move despite all the frantic activity around him. After watching this for at least ten minutes (once we noticed it!) Terry went out to see if it was injured. She put her finger up there by its feet, hoping it would move onto her, but eventually it "noticed" her and flew off. We don't know if it was just going into night-time torpor early (and just wanted to be ready for "breakfast in bed" when it woke up?), or had bumped into the window and was taking time to recover, or was old and tired, etc. But it was definitely quite unusual behavior.
Here's this morning's update from Tom RE the monsoon clean-up:
The non-stop pool cleaning continues. I must guide Creepy
and clean it and the filters every 5 minutes. I spent all day on it yesterday
and still have a long way to go. I know it was an act of nature but the
horse/dirt lot next door put most of the dirt in the pool. I see the
dermatologist at ten this morning then will continue. Storms predicted all next
week.
Paul came yesterday and said he cannot right the tree so we
will have to remove it. Scheduling pending. Pokey doesn't care.
I am not having fun.
