Lily and Rob stopped by the house yesterday afternoon before a last soak. Hope their drive to Denver and then their flight back to California went smoothly, as well as their re-entry to the Real World.  Sure enjoyed my time with them.

Terry and Lisa G. had a difficult day yesterday in Salida, all related to troubles getting Lisa’s car repaired before her drive East to help her twin grandchildren celebrate their upcoming first birthday. Terry stood up to the shop owner (how does he stay in business in a small town, treating customers like that?)  While as of a phone call last night it seems that all issues have been resolved, I don’t think Lisa will be taking her Jeep back there again. Current plan is for me to take her into town on Sunday to pick it up.

I headed up for a soak late afternoon, once they had returned from town.   Walking across the parking lot I could hear screams emanating from the swimming pool.

It was not a snake, as I’d thought, but another (early awake) bat, which had ended up "swimming" in the pool. By the time I arrived poolside it was on the deck, “trapped” under Marna’s hat.  Half-drowned, it was still alive.

A call to the office brought Doug and Scott to retrieve it,
and send it off for testing. (It was the third one acting strange this summer.)

The Apple Pool (where I’d been heading) was being power cleaned, so I stayed at the swimming pool and enjoyed an impromptu concert of Cate’s.  She and Eileen will be here until Tuesday so I hope to hear lots more music.

Got home just as Terry had finished making a batch of pesto. Dan will be bringing fresh basil, from his legendary garden in Taos, with him today, so she figured it was a good time to use up what she had. The kitchen, of course, smelled delicious -  but disappointingly pesto didn’t figure into last night’s delicious dinner.  Terry did, however, promised to include pesto in the menu "very soon".

We watched the final episode of Godless last night - and were both somewhat disappointed in how the show wrapped up. We expected a cliff-hanger (to allow for the possibility of a second season?) but that wasn't the case.
