Yesterday I fixed Alex's snowboarding pants (holes in both his pockets... why do they use such sheer fabric for those?) and his jacket (the seam under one arm had ripped out.) Plus "as long as I was doing it" I also patched the seat of Ahmed's pants in three spots where it was totally worn through (though with more areas 'threatening' he definitely needs new pants!) On a galloping horse none of my patch jobs would be noticeable, and the guys did seem thrilled with my work. (Apparently I'm the only mom among Alex's friends who sews, so I guess they can't be choosy?) Someone had fun patching a hole in this knee!
Alex, Ahmed and Adrian left for California sometime after work last night (that being sometime in the middle of the night) and I made sure to get the other two cell numbers yesterday "just in case". (Moms worry, so having those numbers makes me feel better. But now I'll worry less since I belong to the "if I have them I won't need them" club.)
Though Alex said he planned to drink several Red Bulls through the evening while at work to keep him up while driving through the night I was still very glad to hear from him mid-morning today. They had made it to Vegas (5-6 hours from here) where they broke up the driving by stopping to play at a casino. Alex says he came out $75 ahead, which will pay for his food (gas is on Lisa.) Between the car being crammed with Lisa's stuff (including a vacuum cleaner), 3 snowboards and all the guys' other bulky stuff, and driving all night, let me say again how happy I am NOT to be traveling with them.
Deb had her baby early this "morning":
It's a boy!!!!! Paxton J Serls born 1/10/15 at 1224 am, just over 7lbs.
He's totally perfect!
Now I've got a couple of hours to sew on the wedding quilt
before heading out to Davonna's service this afternoon.
