Yesterday I made substantial progress on the four needed sashings for the t-shirt quilt (will decide on the outer borders once those are on) but didn't quite finish.  While there's still today, of course I do need to figure out what to pack... and then figure out how to cram it into my suitcase.

At least I did get all the laundry done in order to maximize my options.

APS has changed their schedule.  Now the "prohibited" times (at least at our house!), when our electric rate is quadruple the rest of the time, are M-F from 3 pm until 8 pm. It's nice to be able to do laundry most of the day now, though less convenient to have to wait until "so late" <g> in the evening to start. (The cheaper rates used to end at noon on weekdays, and then kick back in at 7:00.)

It was an incredibly cool day yesterday (and quite overcast) so we all enjoyed our time out back in The Park.  Well, maybe not all.  At one point Pokey retreated into her crate for the night (no, I still haven't scrubbed it out and relegated it to the garage for the season.)  Even turned on her heat lamp for her.  Today's high is only going to be 75 (!!!) and tomorrow 85 - but by Saturday it will be in the triple digits, and not likely to retreat much any time soon!

I tried to unzip some Window files for a program Marcie bought (she has a Mac) and then load them onto a stick for her sewing machine.  Not only was it the expected nightmare at this end - but when she got home and tried the stick on her machine, it wouldn't work.

She feels the same way I do about computers!

Marcie and Mike have been getting loads of dirt for their backyard recently since this is the time of year that people are putting in pools.  One of the dump truck drivers really screwed up; he ran over some of their landscaping (killing the plants) and irrigation outlets (trashing them), and even broke a section of their cement driveway (which will need to be cut out and replaced!)  When he arrived with the next load of dirt (and found himself locked out of the yard) they showed him what he'd done... and he was "surprised".

Tom weed-ate our backyard, so now our entire property sure looks manicured.  (He did grouse that he spent more time replacing the string on the weed-eater than actually using it, a common occurence.) Of course the yard won't stay that way, so I really should snap some pix later.

Tyga was here for the late afternoon and evening, so I picked up all the t-shirts off the floor.  While that didn't really mean I couldn't work on the sashings, I used that as an excuse.  Instead, I did a little work on Maggie's bib.  Haven't made a whole lot of progress, but enough so that I can work on it during tomorrow's flight.

Weird dreams last night!  In one, I worked on an embroidery machine at a museum (in DC?) but had major problems and eventually gave up on that project.  In another, we discovered huge critter holes in "our" backyard.

The Arizona legislature is expected to vote on a budget today, so it's possible the teachers will be back in their classrooms tomorrow.  The proposed budget certainly will not solve all of the underlying issues, but the thinking is that at least will be a start.  Everyone wants school back in session (and no one wants to "squander" the current support of parents.)  IF things don't improve for the schools/teachers, obviously the threat of another strike next year would be taken more seriously!
