Another great day at FOOTHILLS this morning. See how happy I am?
During Show&Tell there were a number of happy pillowcases on display
(in addition to mine.)
Sue brought in three.
It's a little hard to see the happy fabric, so here's a close-up of the one on the right. Some kid is going to love it!
Louise's was quite cute, also. The pink piping was the perfect accent color,
and it really brought out the color in their ears.
This owl bag of Carolyn's made me smile.
Bet I could use some penguin fabrics and 'fool' folks?
Are you familiar with the kids' book Elmer?
(We have a copy - it's a great book.)
Each year Carolyn makes a quilt for the kindergarten teacher at her grandson's school (where she volunteers.) The kids each got an elephant outline and colored their own version of Elmer, and Carolyn turned it into this adorable quilt.
I had gotten an e-mail from Cynthia, who found us in the AQG Chatter and was interested in attending. So I let her know that we'd be doing Show & Tell, and she was more than welcome to bring something to share. This is a top (that's not quite finished yet) for a little boy named Forest. It's already quite nice!
After the break Geri Hruzek did her wonderful trunk show! We were all VERY impressed with her work. Just keep in mind that ALL of her quilts are hand-quilted - and most of them are also hand pieced!
This was Geri's first (!) project. Nothing like starting big... and it was totally hand done.
This one was was also totally hand done.
And pretty sure this one was all hand done. Love the scrappy border.
cute holiday wall hanging
There is an incredible amount of handwork in her crazy quilts.
This detail will give you some idea.
These Hummels were impressive.
I especially loved this quilt, with all the animals.
After lunch a group of us went out to lunch with her. We may just have convinced her to join Foothills, where she will definitely be appreciated! There was this beautiful bush out in front of the restaurant. No idea what it is, but it sure has pretty blooms!
This evening I finished the watermelon placemat for my BIL Don. My sister is worried about him ruining the placemats I made for her as a house-warming gift for their new place, so I decided to make him a fun one that he's 'allowed' to mess up.
The back is nice and busy, so any food dropped on it shouldn't <g> stand out too much.
And this is the fun front.
And here's a happy song with which to end this post.
Good night!
