Lots of time (up at 4:30) before I have to dash off to the gym,
so can post next installment of pix from Saturday's show.
I'm sure I wasn't the only one looking forward to the Red & White quilts entered for this year's Ruby Anniversary theme. Of course I'd already seen a couple of them, following their progress during construction:
Linda's
Wanda's:
Here's the blue ribbon winner:
It was too large to fit into one pic (couldn't stand back far enough)
The red ribbon winner had stunning quilting:
Either I did see (or didn't care for) the 3rd place quilt, but these got Honorable Mention ribbons.
This quilt "cheated" on the redwork (still quite effective, since I didn't realize that until I got up fairly close) but she did make up forty red 9-patches to celebrate the 40th anniversary of AQG.
I liked the bold fabric choices in this one:
This quilter delved into her stash of red scraps to make up 70 stars for a Big Birthday, yet (like most of us) she still didn't use every fabric.

Some other fun challenges were hung in the back room -
When Marcie and I arrived at the show, Barb Jansen's talk on landscape quilts was on-going in the lecture hall so we didn't pop in to view the auction quilts. When we finished our tour of the quilts in the back room shortly after noon, I assumed that would be a good time to view the auction goodies and get some idea of which ones to save our money for. But as soon as we entered, the volunteers kicked us out (not sure what they were doing with them.) So we headed to the main display room instead, where our quilts resided, to view the rest of the entries. The plan was to do that room, then make it back for the auction at 1:00, and after that shop the vendors. The day didn't quite work out as planned...
