Spent all day Sunday at the Wildlife World Zoo.  Not sure how many miles we trekked, but we did make it through all but one section, plus there was considerable backtracking.  Logan, of course, was not ready to leave - but by then Tom and I were really dragging.  Got there a little too late to see the penguins being fed, but did feed the lories and giraffes.

Lisa got some good pix, so when she sends them to me I'll be sure to share.  We also just happened to be walking by the wildlife encounter as it was getting ready to start, and that was also a big success.  Pretty sure the hairy armadillo, Tank, was Logan's favorite, because that's what he chose to get (a stuffed one <g>) at the gift shop when it was time to leave.

The adults were already tired by the time we headed to Mike & Marcie's for dinner.  She had plenty of yummy nibbles beforehand, and then savory beef bourguignon for the main course.  Once home Lisa crashed while Alex set off some fireworks that Tom, Logan, and I certainly enjoyed.  Then it was time to watch It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, which had Logan laughing a lot; he especially enjoyed the destruction of the new gas station.  (I was his age when I went to see it in the theater with the family, and still remember how hard the movie made Dad laugh; my recollection is that he almost fell out of his seat.)

After the movie ended (10:30?) we all went to bed, so nobody here made it until midnight.  No idea how late Alex's revels lasted.  He was heading to Old Town Scottsdale to ring in the new year, and then staying in that part of town overnight.

This morning Logan helped me bake angel food cake.  He and Lisa and I went out to lunch (Tom had a 'relapse' after walking around in all the dirt/dust yesterday and stayed home) at The Wildflower Bread Company - though he was not happy with their menu.  Then we walked across the parking lot to the movies to see Coco.  Good thing I bought the tickets before lunch; except for the front row (NO!) there were only 4 seats left in the theater.  That was somewhat surprising since the movie's been out for several weeks.  Lisa and I really enjoyed it, though Logan was typically noncommittal.

Back at the house we had time for strawberry "shortcake" and then it was off to the airport.  I was surprised that there was no line at the curbside check-in... but it turned out that was because they weren't open; the one skycap there said something to them, pointed at the door, and off they went.  No idea how long the lines inside to check their luggage were, or the ones to go through security - I'm sure today is a very heavy travel day.  But at least there were no traffic issues on the way to the airport and we got there at the time Lisa had requested, 4:00, for their 5:45 flight.
