Chatted with Mom this morning, and it's still cold there.  (We are expecting a nip in the air, when today's temps are predicted to be almost 20 degrees below yesterday's!) Their quarantine, briefly lifted, has been re-imposed, so she and her friends continue to be a little stir-crazy.  But of course it could be worse, and (so far at least!) she hasn't gotten the crud.

Mom's caption phone seems to be working well, though she hasn't been able to figure out how to retrieve phone messages on it.  Hopefully when Mildred's son comes by today to discuss the upcoming paint job in her apartment (which he has scheduled to take place during her upcoming visit out here so she won't be inconvenienced) he will be able to figure it out and show her.

And speaking of Mildred (or at least her son) -  her 95th birthday party was supposed take place today, but unfortunately for several reasons that's been postponed for the time being.

With regard to the phone captions (which seem to work well when we're talking) Mom mentioned what happened when arranging plans with Andy about last weekend's lunch. He said they'd be bringing Pippa along (that always makes her happy) and the phone 'registered' her name as something like Hip-Hop.

I got the eggs deviled this morning, and all but one of the dozen eggs peeled quite easily.  That outlier was surprising, given the fact that all dozen eggs were the same age (in theory), all were exposed to the exact same heat and cooking duration during boiling, and all went right into the fridge to cool down immediately after boiling.  The white "shell" of that one was so mangled, and with pieces of shell left everywhere, that I ended up tossing it.  Hopefully a final count of 22 (instead of 24) deviled eggs will be enough for everyone at the Sewcial.

Matt will be here this afternoon to replace the kitchen cabinet door that arrived scratched.  Even after they pointed it out during installation I could barely see it (way above my eye level) and even Tom had forgotten all about it, so obviously it hasn't bothered him.  I'm still waiting for James to come take pix of the finished kitchen, which still looks neat and tidy... but THAT'S

Wanda just called (it was on my mind to touch base with her today) Seems that when playing fetch with a friend's dog earlier in the week the other dog knocked her down onto her left side.  She thought she dodged a bullet and was okay, but by that evening her left ankle was causing her a lot of pain.  Between that and her on-going right knee issues she was having difficulty getting around for a few days and opted to cancel things and stay home.

After my shower I'm going to pop over for a visit and then we'll go out to lunch.  Tom can "supervise" the cabinet door replacement this afternoon.
