Did an upper-body workout at the gym this morning, and expect to feel it tomorrow. Afterward I talked with the manager Nick about "permission" to have Mom come with me to my workouts during her visit, and that did not go well. Sigh...
When I got home, Tom was on the phone with DiscoverCard. Today he'd gotten an e-mail about an overdue bill (with hefty kitchen remodeling charges on it!) Turns out that the last bill we'd gotten only ran through Nov. 4, and with everything else going on in December we didn't realize we hadn't gotten more recent bills. So we made the minimum payment over the phone, and are awaiting the remailing of those bills so we can reconcile them before paying the rest. Just another headache with Discover, of which there have been several in recent months. At least we have an excellent track record of paying in full each billing cycle, so (in theory) she deleted all the late charges.
COX was running late this for their 10-12 appointment this morning (at least they called, though on the home phone and not on Tom's cell phone, the "best number to contact" that I had given them yesterday when I made the appointment.) So I was home when Omero came and fixed the TV. He'd brought a new cable box, but never needed it; he seemed to fix the problem by switching out the actual cable, and also connecting it into a different input/output on the TV. Not only that - he was able to actually name the various sources (cable TV, DVD, Roku) on the display, which should make the learning curve easier now that 'cable' is in a different spot. In addition the picture is better, and we need less than half the volume. Life is good!
I ironed all the blue jean strips while I watched TV (caught Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep on Ellen - looking forward to seeing The Post), and also totally filled up the green can (which was just emptied yesterday) with leaves from the front porch and driveway before the predicted rain arrives. Not here yet, though it's definitely threatening: gray and windy out.

Before I posted this, Tom went in to turn on the TV to watch the news - and we got that same horrible loud static. So obviously the problem is not fixed...
Of course it's all relative - especially after the lead story was the mudslides in California. Sadly many deaths (and many more people still missing) but happy to see the rescue of this 14-year-old girl, pulled out after being trapped for 6 hours.
