I slept in this morning, then took my 'coffee' over to the cottage to visit with Mom. We had a nice relaxing morning, chatting and catching up on this and that, and then came over here to wait for Bella and her crew to arrive noonish. And there they were, promptly at 11:59.
They were glad to see Mom (it's been a couple of years) and then we got out of their way by heading back over to the cottage for lunch. Afterwards we played more Rummikub, and Mom evened up things by beating me several games.
Later in the afternoon we popped over to Jeannie's so Mom could see her long-arm quilting set-up, and some of the beautiful quilts Jeannie is working on.
We watched the news while I was making dinner (chicken on the grill, wild rice, cantaloupe, cauliflower) and at the end of the broadcast just before 7:00 the newscaster mentioned that the space station would be passing overhead Phoenix between 7:00 and 7:06. It would be coming from the southwest, looking like a bright star but moving quickly like an airplane - except without the blinking lights. So of course we headed out back to see if we could spot it. The first bright/moving object turned out to be a plane, but then around 7:02 there it was. (Mom spotted it.) We watched it traverse the entire sky, and I'm thinking it may have been the first time I've seen the space station.
Then on our way inside I grabbed the chicken off of the grill. It was cooked perfectly... great timing!
We capped off the evening with more Rummikub, and now it's time for bed. Busy day tomorrow.
