A story about Dad I'd never heard before:

The well-known Dr. Joyce Brothers, who recently died, was an undergraduate at Cornell when Dad was in law school there, and they knew each other. (Also turns out that Mom's parents were friends with her parents.).

Joyce was taking a religion class and needed a copy of the new testament; being Jewish, she only had a copy of the old testament. For whatever reason, Dad had a copy to lend her (maybe his military bible?) When she returned it to him and thanked him, she quipped that she'd 'forever associate him with the late Jesus Christ.'
