Last night Tom and I watched a wonderful NOVA program on PBS that he'd recorded.
He'd actually already watched it, but found it so interesting and informative (said he learned a lot) that he wanted to see it again, and also wanted me to see it.  Using weather satellites from space (I didn't realize there were so many, or that some of them orbit 25,000 miles above Earth!) and computer graphics, the show was fascinating look at how things on earth are interconnected.  Unfortunately I ended up falling asleep on the couch, and figured I might as well not fight it so I went to bed.  Must have been tired... I slept 12 hours!!!  But I certainly look forward to finishing the show up later.
"Earth From Space" is a groundbreaking two-hour special that reveals a spectacular new space-based vision of our planet. Produced in extensive consultation with NASA scientists, NOVA takes data from earth-observing satellites and transforms it into dazzling visual sequences, each one exposing the intricate and surprising web of forces that sustains life on earth. Viewers witness how dust blown from the Sahara fertilizes the Amazon; how a vast submarine "waterfall" off Antarctica helps drive ocean currents around the world; and how the Sun's heating up of the southern Atlantic gives birth to a colossally powerful hurricane. From the microscopic world of water molecules vaporizing over the ocean to the magnetic field that is bigger than Earth itself, the show reveals the astonishing beauty and complexity of our dynamic planet.

This morning was my pre-chemo blood draw, and I combine that with a trip to the library.  None of my Hold books are in, but I did pick up a 'surprise' March Madness book.

I chose the book with star paper & blue ribbon to the left of the 'Staff Picks' sign.  Of course there was always the chance it might be a book I've already read, but don't think that's the case.  (It scanned through the paper, so I saw the title of the book.) I look forward to unwrapping and reading True Blue by David Balducci.
