The other day Alex had floated the idea of getting a to-go order from Valle Luna (just two miles from here) so last night that became the dinner plan.

When he called in our three-meal order (two pork asada enchilada dinners, sans olives, for him and Tom, and a mini Mexican chicken pizza for me) he asked about the chips and salsa, and the person on the other end of the phone confirmed that the order would include three portions of those to accompany our order.

Obviously slammed, he said it would be an hour before our meals would ready for pick-up, so Tom and I used that time to work on the newest puzzle, Raining Cats and Dogs.

When Alex cruised over to pick up our food (turning down my offer of $, treating us to dinner) only one person was allowed inside the restaurant at a time, while people in line outside were practicing the 6-foot social distancing, so things looked well organized.

However me-thinks Valle Luna is working with an abbreviated staff (and possibly with some of the servers filling in as actual kitchen workers?) since things did not quite <g> come out of the kitchen in their usual state.

It wasn't until Alex arrived back at the house and opened the bag that he discovered that it only housed two meals, his enchilada dinner did contain the dreaded olives and the pork was cooked a totally different way than usual, and both meals were cold.  On the plus side they had only charged him for two meals, and of course we were able to warm things up easily in the microwave.

Sharing was the next order of business....

Tom got part some of Alex's meal slid onto his plate, and some of mine,
and no one went hungry.

I do want to stress that we were definitely NOT complaining... not even Tom,
who in the past has been know to take snafus like this 'personally'!

The grim reality of the pandemic, with its fiscal disaster and mounting death toll, certainly gives a new perspective to many of us.  Not only is everyone needing to make much more important concessions these days, but in the BIG PICTURE a wrong food order just isn't a big deal at all (not that it ever was...)

We got our Mexican food fix, Tom didn't have to cook,
I didn't have to do dishes, the food tasted fine, etc.
