As expected (and hoped!) Mom's TEE test was negative.  There's no sign of infection in her heart valve, and despite (as Marilyn puts it) the replacement 'being out of warranty', the test showed that it's actually in "remarkably good shape".  The infection in her lung is "resolving appropriately" (the white count is going down) and as soon as there's a bed in rehab she will be discharged.

After Mom's diagnosis I had looked up MSSA (methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus) and learned that it "normally presents as pimples, boils, abscesses or infected cuts, but also may cause pneumonia."  Mom had an unexplained nasty rash on her back this past October/November, and Doctor Bobbi is guessing that's where this all started.

Yesterday I took Brownie for a walk up to Latina's house.
We hadn't practiced with the leash lately, and he was resistant at first.

But Brownie soon discovered that going for a walk exposed him to all sorts of exciting smells.  It did take a fair amount of time to go the short distance since I let him stop and smell all the "flowers" (AKA fire hydrants and mailbox posts!)

I'm hoping that after just a few more walks
Brownie will be excited to see the harness and leash appear!

And maybe I can get him hooked on these treats? <g>

Mostly we hung out in Latina's backyard.  Though she was less than thrilled with having an interloper there, he had fun exploring (while I "fixed" her very mangled favorite carrot toy.)   He seemed quite interested in their pool, so at one point I set him in the water on the top step - and after a few seconds he decided to lie down.  (It was in the 80s again yesterday.)  At least afterward he rolled on the artificial turf and not in the dirt.

It's going to be another nice day today; luckily the rain that's predicted shouldn't arrive until some time this evening.

That's a relief, because Anita and Dan will be visiting today, and we're going to a Spring Training game this afternoon.  That wouldn't be nearly as much fun in the rain...
