I'm not at all sorry that I missed the hail when I was in Goodyear today. The news reports it was quarter to half-dollar sized! Pennie posted this pic of her yard, where it hailed mid-afternoon.
"The West Valley has borne the brunt of these three days of rain." (We've noticed!) While rain is still coming down here, at least it's not pouring any more - and the storm seems to be moving east. There have been reports of a funnel cloud near South Mountain - but no confirmation yet.
A funnel cloud is a funnel-shaped cloud of condensed water droplets, associated with a rotating column of wind and extending from the base of a cloud (usually a cumulonimbus or towering cumulus cloud) but not reaching the ground or a water surface.
Happily the weather is predicted to begin clearing tomorrow,
and by the weekend should be back to normal again.
