Our weather was unseasonably wet and cold for the two weeks of Wayne's recent visit, and now yesterday's weather set all sorts of records. Here's what one of our local newscasters had to say:

Dear Tourists,
We're so sorry. We, the year-round residents of Arizona feel your pain.
You made plans to escape a place where snow is normal...
and landed in a place where snow is a phenomenon eliciting various states of emergency.

The normal high temperature this time of year is 71. We know you were hoping to re-introduce those pasty white legs to the sun for the first time in months.
We see you out there, by the pool, when it's 65 degrees...
You were going to watch baseball, but it feels more like football (late in the season).
We feel your pain.
If it helps, you're witnessing history. We've set records for the lowest high temperature and the most snow ever in one day.
Think of the stories you'll tell!
I know, you want sun burn and cold beer and golf. We can do one out of three at the moment.
Take heart, there are lots of other things to do, from museums to restaurants to spas and nightlife.
We, the year-round residents of this beautiful state still welcome you. Truth be told, we don't want to apologize too much for this weather. It brings us much-needed water, and it's a view of our home we rarely see.
