Much of yesterday was spent hanging out in the hospital waiting room while Tom had his procedure. We were there considerably longer than expected (because of other patients ahead of him) but everything went well and now we just have to wait for official results. I did get a fair amount of binding done before I quit and played on my iPad.
While I was there, Alex called (a number of times) because Brownie had gotten stung on the paw by something, possibly a scorpion. When he got worse and began vomiting, it was time to take him to the vet. Turns out that bees (which of course we do have here, in abundance) are more toxic to dogs than scorpions - and that's what the vet guessed had actually stung Brownie. So he got a shot there (and pills to bring home) and the good news is that he seems much better this morning.
The other day I made a call and have arranged to have the bees taken care of in January (after the yard dries up from next week's expected irrigation*, so we'll just hope that there aren't any more stinging episodes!
*It started raining during the night, and is still raining this morning, with more predicted tomorrow - though don't think it will be enough to impact the irrigation schedule.
I'm glad I have nowhere to go today, because people in Phoenix truly do not know how to drive in the rain. Instead I will be spending part of the day puttering in the kitchen, "cooking" for tomorrow (making the apple slaw, faro salad, and deviled eggs) as well as working more on the binding during breaks from slaving in the kitchen.
